la flamenca
Bodegas Campos’s flamenco hall is a must.
The whitewashed walls have been silent witnesses to memorable flamenco nights that stretched into the early hours, where singing, dancing, and guitar playing ignited the flame of flamenco passion fueled by the spirit latent in the old rooms.
And as Agustín Gómez wrote about one evening, Bodegas Campos is “the place one dreams of as a natural setting for flamenco, and thanks to its management, it preserves and enhances the elegance, the artistic appeal, and the elegance that it always had, a hallmark of the family.”
Numerous vintage and recent photographs of singers and, to a lesser extent, guitarists and dancers, line the walls of the hall, alternating with programs, diplomas, instruments, and other evocative memorabilia, not to mention the cupboard containing books, records, and various relics.
Antonio, Mario Maya, Pepe Pinto, the Girl with the Combs, Antonio Mairena, Lola Flores, Cristina Hoyos, Blanca del Rey and Paco de Lucía have all passed through the house, not to mention Merengue, the Boy from the Corredera, El Pele, La Tomata and Vicente Amigo, who were so close to us.
