Pasillos del dios santo

Among all the house’s preserved courtyards with popular roots, the Santo Dios courtyard stands out, taking its name from one of the inscriptions on a cartouche painted on one of its walls, which reads “Santo Dios / Santo fuerte / Santo inmortal / líbranos Señor / de todo mal (Holy God / Holy Mighty One / Holy Immortal One / Deliver us, Lord / from all evil.)” This prayer was said for protection from storms.

The bright courtyard is a spacious rectangle covered in ivy, with doors and windows around its perimeter, reflecting the renovations and expansions the house has undergone over time.

The woodwork along the corridors, the gutters, the flowerpots, and the upper third of the lower gallery are covered in a light cadmium blue, which has tempered the intense indigo or blue of the past.

Pots of indoor plants line the gallery or shelter rosebushes climbing the shafts, while a hundred pots of gitanillas dot the whitewashed walls.
