Patio de la Torre

The 17th-century covered tower, which serves as a lookout point overlooking the surroundings, rises in the middle of this labyrinth of houses, so characteristic of urban planning with a Muslim heritage, giving its name to the courtyard, once also known as the Olives’ Tower.

Glazed ceramic pots with indoor plants alternate with small flowerbeds growing with ivy, bougainvillea, and the Benjamin fig, which climb the whitewashed walls to kiss the roofs.

The sturdy white well curb invites you to peer inside to verify its authenticity. “It’s a stopover well, and it doesn’t fail even in bad years.” Its high-quality water was once used in the old wine cellar to wash boots and carafes.

A ceramic mural transcribes praises dedicated to the house by Antonio Gala, whose manuscript is framed in the dining room of the Office.

A Córdoba-style lantern, like those that illuminate the streets of the old town, transforms the courtyard at night into a charming and inviting spot.
